Sleeping in the closet

Lace was a quiet boy, he never said much in class and only spoke when spoken too. Even then he didn't say much. This was never a bother to him. A lack of friends was of no concern to Lace, his strange beauty and mysterious nature drew plenty of attention from other students. Which could be bothersome, but he found ways to avoid it. He went into the Gym storage room to eat lunch, one day however, he fell asleep. He fell into such a deep sleep that he slept through class and until the end of volley ball practice. He managed to hide from the sight of the club members, though not on purpose until someone came in and saw him.

"Birdhouse? Wow!! It's really well made!! I wonder if that tiny crow guy would fit in..." Lev pondered as he watched the show carefully. "I had no idea that something like that was on TV!"

"The...game shows...here are very unique..." He never saw anything like this back in England. This was far more interesting than the shows back in London.

"Are they? It is weird to bite and chew on shoes, yeah..." Lev nodded, watching one of the men taking a shoe into his mouth. "I wonder what other weird game shows do we have! I remember one in which they asked questions while wrapping someone in bandages and turning them into mummies..."

"There...are more...?" Lace never knew that! He had always thought there was just this show since it was always on when he got home or felt like watching TV. Lace handed Lev the remote to change the channel.

"Yep! I don't know too many of them but we can search!" Lev offered and changed the channel, but it seemed like the time slot for weird game shows was over. "Eh! It's now all about dramas...they're boring."

Lace watched every channel that Lev showed and looked very disappointed that there weren't any more game shows on. But he tried to hide that disappointment. "........." Though it was pretty clear he was disappoint.

"Hey, we can play that out by ourselves, can't we? The chocolate searching! Do you have any chocolate?" Lev asked, grinning at Lace. Even he could tell how disappointed Lace was.

Lace nodded his head and went to get it, shortly returning with it. They ended up playing hide and seek with it. Lev at one point hid a piece in Lace's hood which he found when he pulled his hood up and the piece of chocolate after it plopped on his head.

They ended up spending time together and playing strange game show games over the past two months. Today was no different after practice Lace and Lev walked home together and entered Lev's loft.

"Which one do you want to play today?" Lev asked as they walked in; during these two months they tried to play out most of the weird games shows and they were slowly running out of ideas, unless they'd replay some of them.

"We....could try....volleyball...?" Lace offered, Lev seemed super into it so maybe that would be a better thing to do than try to play out some of the game show games.

"V-Volleyball?! But we'd have to go outside..." Lev murmured and took the ball from his room. "We could play here but Alisa and mom would kill me. You don't want to get me killed, do you?" Lev asked seriously and added after a while, "Kidding!"

Lace took his hand and pulled him out the door. He wanted to try playing volleyball with Lev. As they went down the stairs and outside into the cool night air. Lace was excited to see what Lev could do compared to the professionals.

Well, Lev's spikes were better than two month's ago, but sometimes he still missed them. It was the case this time, partly because it was dark already and partly because he was a bit anxious about showing his skills to Lace for the first time.

Lace seemed not bothered by Lev's failures, not questioning why the Ace player wasn't doing well. He'd just hit the ball back when Lev did manage to spike it.

They played for a few hours before deciding it was too cold to stay outside and play.

"I was...I was awful. So awful!! Even more awful than the little crow guy!" Lev hid his face in his hands, not having enough guts to look at Lace who did fairly better than him. "No, I'm the ace...! It's just temporary...yeah, for sure!"

However, lately he couldn't spike for life. And he didn't know why.

"It... wasn't that bad...." It was bad but it could be worse. He awkwardly patted him on the head after getting up as high as he could to pet him. He wanted to comfort Lev but he never was in such situations like this.

"We'll....just...practice...." Lace offered.

"You'll...practice with me? Toss for me? I can't get Kenma to toss for me lately! He's so into those video games..." Lev rolled his eyes; volleyball was far more interesting than them. "I love you, Lace!!!"

He scooped him from the ground and twirled with him, laughing happily.

Lace was taken aback by Lev's sudden declaration and twirl. But he did nothing to stop it and allowed to be held like a doll. He rested his on his shoulder and remained silent for a moment before speaking up "I...love...you too..."

Lev just yelled on the spur of the moment, but when he heard Lace's answer he stopped halfway and blinked, "You...love me...too? Really? Lace?" He kept asking as his cheeks became hot.

"......? Did....I say it wrong...?" Lace asked, not understanding why Lev was responding differently when he responded. Was it not a good thing? Did Lace say it wrong?

"No...you said that you love me...if I didn't mishear, that is!" Lev watched him carefully, feeling his heart thumping in his chest. Lace looked serious, though...and it only made his heart beat faster.

Lace nodded his head when Lev repeated it, still in his arms and off the ground. Lace was silent for a moment before realizing something...."Did...you...not....mean it.....?"

Lev only laughed and kissed him on the cheek, "I meant it!! I can shout it out again if you don't believe me!" With that said, Lev pressed Lace to his chest and nuzzled into his hair.

Lace softly hugged him back, resting his cheek on his chest as he enjoyed the warmth that radiated off his chest. He felt perfectly satisfied with this position. "I'm.....glad...." He murmured softly as he looked up at him.

Lev didn't realize that hugging him here might look a bit awkward and even squeezed him harder, "Y-You know...!" It might have been the very first time Lev stuttered, "My parents and sister will be away next weekend..."
