Sleeping in the closet

Lace was a quiet boy, he never said much in class and only spoke when spoken too. Even then he didn't say much. This was never a bother to him. A lack of friends was of no concern to Lace, his strange beauty and mysterious nature drew plenty of attention from other students. Which could be bothersome, but he found ways to avoid it. He went into the Gym storage room to eat lunch, one day however, he fell asleep. He fell into such a deep sleep that he slept through class and until the end of volley ball practice. He managed to hide from the sight of the club members, though not on purpose until someone came in and saw him.

Was this shyness...? Lace never thought about how he felt before. He had always dealt with things in his own way. "I'm....not shy...." He replied, gazing at the other taller boy.

"Aren't you really?" Lev asked, tapping his chin a few times. "For me you are. And really quiet. I'm really loud, on the other hand...just like I was loud for the both of us..."

Being loud for the both of them...? He was going to be loud for Lace? He looked surprised at him, no one had ever tried doing something like that before. "We're....very different...." He agreed, but that wasn't bad. That wasn't bad at all.

"Do you have plans for tomorrow after school? We could go somewhere! Or I can introduce you to my teammates! Or we can do anything you want, but I bet you're too shy to tell me what would that be...!" Lev laughed and ruffled Lace's hair.

Lace was fine with doing what ever Lev wanted. He was okay with a first year calling all the shots. He was okay with following him. Lace allowed Lev to ruffle his hair and bowed his head.

"I'm... not shy...."

"Yeah, right! That's not a bad thing, though!" Lev assured him and all of a sudden picked him up from the floor and lifted him up high. "And so light, too!"

"....?!" Lace stiffened up quickly when Lev picked him up, looking down at him with a surprised gaze. He...actually lifted him up. His feet were not on the ground and this boy he just met was lifting him up. Lace was speechless, he couldn't find words to say to him.

All he could do was stare down at him.

"This stare...do you want to kill me?" Lev asked when he looked up at Lace and their eyes met. "Should I put you back down?" He was a bit scared, especially when Lace was silent.

Lace reached out to lightly pet his head, at this height he was able to reach up and do what Lev could do so easily. He wasn't going to kill him, "Why....would...I do that...?" He asked, giving him a curious look.

"I don't know...but I lifted one of the third years just like this and he punched me in the face," Lev explained, trying to look at him. "His gaze was similar to yours...I think?"

Lace's gaze wasn't murderous or aggressive. It was a quiet and soft one. "Violent...." He murmured as he gave him another soft and sympathetic head pat. He couldn't imagine anyone wanting to hurt the first year. He was very welcoming....unless Japan didn't like open and welcoming people...?

"Maybe a bit...but that's how Yaku-san is, I guess. Tiny and violent." Lev chuckled. After all it wasn't like he held a grudge against Yaku or anything. "You're tiny and quiet instead...but that's cool! I can lift you up as many times as I want!"

Yaku sounded scary. Maybe he reacted differently when startled? Lace usually reacted violently when frightened by something. "...Do...you enjoy lifting....me...up...?" Lace asked, not really minding being lifted up. It would be useful for if he falls asleep or something like that.

"Yeah! I can even throw you up in the air...or, more likely, into the ceiling," Lev grinned but in the end he didn't do anything. "Kidding! Or...maybe not?"

Lace gripped his arms when he said throw him into the ceiling, worried that Lev would actually throw him into the ceiling. Maybe this is why Yaku didn't like Lev picking him up. Because Lev would throw Yaku into the ceiling. "....Don't throw me....into the....cieling...."

"I was kidding! There's no way I'd throw my neighbor into the ceiling!" Yaku wasn't his neighbor, though. But he didn't dare to throw him up either. He hugged Lace and gave him a hard squeeze, laughing. "I've got you!"

Lace allowed Lev to hug him, his cheeks flushing a little as he felt Lev's breath hitting his stomach from the still in the air embrace. And even felt a little ticklish as Lev spoke into his shirt. He was barely able to make it out but was grateful that Lev wouldn't throw him into the ceiling like he does with Yaku.

Then, Lev put him back on the floor and gave him a pat similar to that one Lace had given him a while ago.

"I'm happy that I've gained a friend today! I think I should go now, though..." However, he was reluctant to do so.

"....Why...?" Lev didn't have to go yet if he didn't want too. They lived so close after all, surely it wouldn't be so bad to stay for a while longer.

He went to sit down on the couch and lightly patted the spot next to him. "You can...leave if you want... But.... I don't.... mind if you stay....."

Lace's gesture cheered him up instantly and he sat next to the boy, grinning to himself, "We can watch something together! Maybe something else than volleyball? A movie? Or a TV show? Show me your favorite channel!"

Lace quietly took the remote and turned it to his favorite game show. He didn't know why he loved it so much but he did. He liked the look of surprise and delight on their faces when they found the chocolate. He watched quietly, his eyes filled with interest.

"What is it about?" Lev knitted his brows, not really sure what was going on there. Basically, people were eating stuff...which looked weird, even for Lev's tastes. But when he noticed how Lace was into it, he smiled.

Lace pointed to a birdhouse and murmured softly, "That's chocolate...." And sure enough when they took a nervous bite it turned out to be chocolate. The show explained the purpose of it again when the next contestant came in.

"Birdhouse? Wow!! It's really well made!! I wonder if that tiny crow guy would fit in..." Lev pondered as he watched the show carefully. "I had no idea that something like that was on TV!"

"The...game shows...here are very unique..." He never saw anything like this back in England. This was far more interesting than the shows back in London.
